Paul Cuddeford

An extremely versatile and accomplished musician, Paul has worked with artists as diverse as Tom Jones, Paul Young, Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople) and Boomtown Rats. He is also a skilled arranger/composer helping to pull the BBC's Perfect Day project together a few years back as well as lending his talents to numerous other TV and commercial projects - if you have a good memory for TV adverts, you may recall the Toyota Avensis ad from 2000 that featured Paul playing Hendrix' Voodoo Chile as the soundtrack.

Cornell Story

Paul has been a good friend and has helped to promote my amplifiers, Paul is easy to talk to and he has a vast musical and technical  knowledge.

One of my first amps was a Journeyman combo it was reviewed in Guitarist magazine in 1996.

It was around that time I made a Journeyman Head for Paul, he was playing with Ian Hunter and later with Steve Harley And Cockney Rebel.

The amp is around 27 years old now and I have recently re-valved it for him as he is on tour with The Boomtown Rats.

He also has an 18/20 Plexi head and a copy of his original class A Journeyman head.

Testimonial

"I was introduced to Denis by Simon Farmer from Gus Guitars (who makes high end instruments including a Purple Special for Prince) at a guitar show in 1998. Having built a class A Journeyman chassis for Simon, Denis agreed to build one for me, I was going through my minimal phase and asked for just volume and tone controls. Over the years common sense has prevailed and Denis has added a more comprehensive tone circuit.

Every time I go into a studio with it the engineer often asks what it is and a couple of times it’s lead to the engineer ordering a Cornell. I’ve always referred to this amp as ‘the best amp in the world’ because to my ears, it is."
